I Put Off This Server Migration for 18 Months. My AI Did It in an Afternoon.

I’d been putting off migrating my web servers for 18 months. Not because I was afraid of breaking things. I was afraid of the week it would take to fix them when something went wrong.

10 WordPress sites on 2 servers, both running years-old pre-packaged software.

Yesterday, my AI assistant moved all of them. One session.

It exported a 207 MB database, transferred 18 GB of files server-to-server in 4 minutes, rebuilt configs for 9 domains, installed SSL certificates on all 10 with auto-renewal, flipped all 9 DNS records. Every site came up clean.

It also pulled a 10th site off a $5/month server into the main setup. Old servers stay up until May 10, then all three shut down. $17 a month, gone.

I was in the conversation the whole time; I wasn’t doing the work. OpenClaw is a self-hosted AI assistant. This is what a normal afternoon looks like.

I teach a class on setting up and getting the most from OpenClaw — details at themeperks.com/openclaw-course/.
